Pearl & Diamond Designs
The Pearl & Diamond Design story began in 1993 when high school sweethearts André and Ohna van Zyl’s interest in and fondness for beautiful jewellery inspired them to exchange their professional careers for the art of jewellery crafting.
Pearl & Diamond Designs is a family-owned jewellery manufacturer and retailer with more than 27 years’ experience in the industry. The focus is on delivering high-quality fine jewellery at affordable prices.
André and Ohna opened their first store in Fourways Mall, Johannesburg in 1993. Initially, the business focus was on pearl jewellery. Today the company operates three Gauteng stores (Cradlestone Mall, Clearwater Mall and Fourways Mall), a jewellery manufacturing studio and an online store.

Pearl & Diamond Designs is involved in every step of the jewellery process. From the design and communicating with customers, procurement of ethically-sourced raw materials, manufacturing of custom designs to wholesale and end supply at retail branches.
At Pearl & Diamond Designs, each jewellery piece has been thoughtfully created or selected to tell a story. It’s about attention to detail, capturing a memory and creating timeless pieces that reflect your style and story.

OUR SERVICES
Concept to Design
We custom design and create jewellery especially for you from conception to final design. We create gold, diamond, silver and platinum jewellery with a focus on engagement and wedding rings. We offer a free consultation (in person or virtually) to discuss your needs. We then design your jewellery and can offer you a digitally rendered version. Once you are satisfied and excited about the rendering, we craft the ring. We also supply ethically and locally sourced diamonds and stones.
Jewellery Repair
Some of the repairs we undertake include Ring resizing, Bracelet and Chain repairs, Missing diamond/gem replacement, Cleaning and polishing and Pearl restringing
- Repairing damaged jewellery (i.e. necklaces, bracelets, chains etc.)
- Resizing your jewellery to ensure that your jewellery is the perfect fit;
- Restringing of pearl bracelets and necklaces;
- Refurbishing pieces that need to be cleaned polished or refurbished to reinforce the shine and sparkle of new jewellery;
- Resetting or tightening of the prongs that secure a diamond or stone to the ring.
Jewellery Remodelling
They say change is as good as a brand new jewellery piece. Bring in your outdated jewellery items and we will happily create a beautiful new modern jewellery piece for you.
Laser Engraving & Personalised Jewellery
We offer laser engraving to personalise your jewellery. Laser engraving offers smoother and more consistent end results than traditional engraving. Our laser machinery also allows us to engrave intricate designs such as symbols, fingerprints and codes of arms.
Our design team also specialises in creating intricate designs that require perfect laser cutting, like name chains and charms.
Ear Piercing
The beautiful smile on a little girl’s face when she sees her earrings for the very first time is priceless. With more than 15 years’ experience in ear-piercing, our staff are well trained to make this process as seamless and painless as possible.
We use STUDEX ear piercing systems. It is a “touch-free” ear-piercing process, that ensures safety and hygiene. We also provide simultaneous piercing on request.
Our Team
At Pearl & Diamond Designs we have a team of 20 trained and skilled staff who are involved in different areas of the business. The 10 manufacturing staff, include goldsmiths, diamond setters, 3D designers, polishers and laser engravers. Our friendly sales staff are there to help you find or manufacture the perfect jewellery item.
